Baseball Recovery Guide

5 min readUpdated July 15, 2026

Recovery isn't lazy — it's when adaptation happens. Skip it and every training rep becomes less effective.

Sleep is the biggest lever

8–10 hours per night for teenage athletes. Every hour of sleep debt measurably reduces reaction time and increases injury risk.

Fuel the recovery

20–30g of protein and 40–60g of carbs within 60 minutes of training.

Active recovery days

Walking, easy swimming, or yoga on non-training days. Complete rest is fine too.

Frequently asked questions

Should I take rest weeks?+

Yes — a full deload week every 6–8 weeks prevents burnout and lets soft tissue catch up.
